Melissa Jiménez
Born in New York, Jiménez was raised by her mother of Greek descent Maria and her Mexican father Horacio. Her musical experience started early on, going to studio sessions and rehearsals with her father since she was a baby. At age 14 she joined her father's Big band and orchestra as a vocalist. Shortly thereafter, Melissa began writing songs and learned to accompany herself with the piano. Dancing was a natural skill, and to enhance it she took ballet, jazz, modern dance, African dance, mambo, and hip-hop. Early in her career Melissa Jiménez (MJ) recorded and performed with a variety of people including: - Ruff Ryders, featured on “U Had Me” by Drag-On, appearing on Styles P's video Daddy get that cash and recording with Swiz - Roc-A-Fella and former founder Damon Dash, working with rapper Beanie Sigel and N.O.R - Rapper Beanie Sigel, features MJ on the song “Feel It in the Air,” from the 2005 Platinum-certified album The B - Wrote and performs the song “Dance With Me,” included in the major motion picture soundtrack “First Daughter,” directed by Forest W - Featured on the song “Take the Lead (Wanna Ride),” included in the major motion picture soundtrack “Take the Lead,” starring Antonio Banderas. Bone Thugs N Harmony, Wisin & Yandel and Fatman Scoop are also Featured on this song produced by Swizz - Singer-Rapper Wyclef Jean, features MJ on the tribute song “Selena,” from Wyclef's 2008 album release Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant - Singer-Rapper Wyclef Jean, features MJ on the song “Touch Your Button,” from Wyclef's 2008 album release Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant Jiménez's upcoming album Signed Sealed Delivered is due to be released in 2009. Her debut single, "Untouchable", which she co-wrote with Claude Kelly.
