Miriam

There are at least three acts named Miriam. 1. Miriam was founded in Italy in 1998 by Daniela Bruno (vocals, bass), Carlo Bucciarelli (synthesizers, guitar) and Francesco Sordini (piano, keyboards). The name MIRIAM has been chosen as a tribute to one of the band's favorite cult movies, “The Hunger” (Tony Scott, 1983), featuring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve in the role of two metropolitan vampires. On the other hand, under the Roman Empire, this name used to mean something like “sea waterdrop”, which fits perfectly the band's tastes, for water themes and colors. During the last decade MIRIAM developed its own style, a cool mix of electronica and new wave taken to an upper level by the enchanting, subtle and etheral vocals of Daniela Bruno. While releasing the second promotional CD, MIRIAM incorporated an additional element - Massimo Bandiera - not in touch any longer with the rest of the band, and signed for a label - Decadance - which produced the latest 2 albums. The current band discography features 4 titles, and will probably end at this point, at least for the "When Beauty Is Invisible" line-up. Arabesque (1999, promo CD, 9 tracks) Im Nebel (2000, promo CD, 10 tracks) Scents (2002, official release, 10 tracks) When Beauty Is Invisible (2007, 11 tracks) Currently Daniela Bruno and Carlo Bucciarelli are active with a new project whose name is MIRIAM VTM (Vanishing Terrestrial Music, www.miriamvtm.com); in addition, they manage the official MIRIAM website www.miriam-music.com; their purpose is to help fans and supporters worldwide keep in contact with MIRIAM and MIRIAM music, while being constantly informed about the band's evolution and the new band founders artistic experiences. With the new project, Daniela and Carlo will release a new promotional album whose title will be "The Mystery of Elle". Besides the original purpose, to create it as a simple EP to celebrate the band's first decade, the plan has changed and "The Mystery of Elle" will be a new full-breadth and full-length album by the MIRIAM core founders. 2. The other is a Christian metal band from Finland. The band consists of Ossi Mäki-Reini (vocals, guitar), Kimmo Köykkä (guitar, roars), Ville Korkiamäki (bass) and Ilari Taipalus (drums). http://www.miriammetal.com/ Their first EP 'Vahvemman varaan' (To Lean On the Stronger One, released at the fall of 2005) is more hardcore metal than their newer EP 'Tahrattu luomus' (Stained Creation, released in the beginning of 2007) which is closer to mainstream yet still remaining true to heavy guitar riffs and occasional double bass drumming. In 2009 their new song 'Samalla viivalla' (On the Same Line) was released on a compilation Suomigospelin Uusi Sukupolvi, which featured new finnish christian bands. It was released through Maanalainen Levykauppa. In November 2010 Miriam released the new single called 'Pahan Juuret' (The Roots of Evil) in Turku at Maata Näkyvissä Festival. Their debut album 'Karu maa' was released 27th of April 2011. 3. Actress Miriam Byrd-Nethery (1929-2003).
