Cristina Soto

Music has been the ever-pulling current underlining decisions and experiences for all of Cristina’s life. At the age of six, Cristina played piano and studied classical piano sonatas in music theory. When she turned 13, she started trained professionally in jazz, classical, musical theater, and gospel vocals. By age 16, Cristina had picked up the guitar while studying Theater at Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan and singing with a touring gospel choir. She continued her studies in Pittsburgh, PA at Carnegie Melon University combining her passion for singing and acting in Musical Theater. Today, Cristina’s breadth in musical training allows her to move like a chameleon across genres, singing everything from folk, to funk, and more recently, electronic dance music. In her new hometown, Austin Texas, she is currently the other half of a sibling folk duo, called Suther n’ Brista, with her brother Robert. They are recording their debut album and playing shows in local bars and coffeehouses. As the lead singer for Tritonal, Cristina’s ethereal vocals play an instrumental role in bringing the trio’s melodic, yet progressive trance to the forefront of the dance music scene. Their first performance with Cristina during SxSW in Austin launched them onto a new path of shows as a group. On Dec. 31st, 2009, Cristina, Dave, and Chad had the opportunity to open for Ferry Corsten and ring in the New Year at the Expo Center. This started a series of shows that eventually led the three to Moscow for their first International show. Look for the debut Tritonal artist album to release in the fall of 2010 under Tritonal’s new label, Air Up There Recordings.
