Early life edit: Jones graduated with honors from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, having majored in classical music. She also has a bachelor's degree in music from Syracuse University. After graduating from college, she worked as a long-distance operator. Career edit: Music edit: Jones met rapper Doug E. Fresh, who admired her vocal skills and invited her to his Get Fresh Crew tour. She began performing on recordings by such hip-hop artists as Big Pun (performing "Punish Me"), Big L (on the single "Holdin it Down" that went Gold) and AZ, which scored Miss Jones yet another Gold Record for her standout yet melodious vocals on "SugarHill". In 1994, her singles "Where I Wanna Be Boy" and "Don't Front" became popular enough to lead her talent to the ears of Program Director (then) Steve Smith and not long after Miss Jones was the newest weekend Singer/jock on radio!! Her debut album, The Other Woman, was released in 1998, and Miss Jones continued to record with newer artists such as Jahiem (Waitin' on You)and jazz artist Najee. As time moved on Miss Jones transitioned a bit more into radio while doing movies such as "Paper Soldiers" and "Death of a Dynasty" as well as "Corrupt" with Ice T. Miss Jones has within this time become a Best Selling author on Random House with her autobiography "Have You Met Miss Jones". Currently Miss Jones is the founder and CEO of Jonesyradio.com, where she broadcasts Jonesy in The Morning from 7-10 daily. Radio edit: Before becoming host of Hot 97's Miss Jones in the Morning show, Jones reported music industry gossip for the Star and Buc Wild morning show on Hot 97. She wrote an autobiography, Have You Met Miss Jones?: The Life and Loves of Radio's Most Controversial Diva, in 2007, published by Random House. On June 28, 2008, Hot 97's contract with Miss Jones expired. Radio show Big Boy's Neighborhood, hosted by Big Boy and MTV VJ Liz Hernandez, replaced Jones' former morning show. This decision was quickly deemed an error and Emmis Communications hired Miss Jones back in 2010 to do weekends at sister station Kiss-FM which was a prequel to Jones taking over mornings at NYC's 98.7 Kiss-FM. that upcoming year however Clear Channel objected to the move and the deal fell through. In January 2012 Miss Jones developed and launched Jonesyradio.com. Jonesyradio.com is an entertainment website where fans can listen to the antics and excitement of Miss Jones as she broadcasts her Morning show daily from 7-10 am with rebroadcasts throughout the day. Miss Jones writes her own material and books her own guests and produces her entire show daily. Bibliography edit: Jones, Tarsha.
