Aram Ayrumyan

I, Aram Ayrumyan, was born in 1982. My musical career began in early childhood; having chosen the hard path of a musician I was taught by the best music teachers in Yerevan. In 1988 I entered the piano department of Yerevan Music School after M.Mirzoyan. Upon graduation, in 1997 – 1999 I continued my education at State Music College after Romanos Melikyan. Since 1997 I have played in the symphony band of the Armenian Missionary Association as a keyboard instrumentalist. Honored Artists of Armenia Inga and Anush Arshakyan and Arsen Grigoryan were the soloists of the band. After studying at R.Melikyan College I took external exams. By the advice of the professors of Yerevan State Conservatory, in 1999 I joined professor Duryan’s piano class at YSC. By that time I was already considered to be one of the leading instrumentalists in Yerevan. In 2002, together with Ara Gevorgyan, Honored Artist of Armenia, we realized “Great Sardarapat” project where I played with renowned US artist Daniel Decker, accompanied by Armenian State Opera Orchestra under Karen Durgaryan, a great conductor and Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia. The event was attended by the President of Armenia and other high-ranked state authorities. Immediately after the project I received an offer from Jivan Gasparyan, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia. In 2003 I toured with Jivan Gasparyan in Turkey, where we achieved great success. Since 2003 until present I work for the Armenian State Dance Troupe as a keyboard instrumentalist. Accepting the offer, we immediately started our grand concert tour in different countries of the world. In 2003 I married musician Hasmik Melkonyan. My first child was born on October 3, 2004 and in December of the same year I was conscripted into the army. Being an irreplaceable musician, I constantly received state support throughout the whole period of the service. I enjoyed great popularity and acceptance both from the public and the government. By the acting president (then Minister of Defense) Serzh Sargsyan’s order I was permitted to leave the country for the concert tours. I was the only person having received such permission while at service, and I was also given the opportunity to participate in all the concerts taking place in Armenia. In 2005 I went to Cyprus with the Armenian State Dance Troupe where we had three concerts in Larnaca and Limassol. The same year I left for Cyprus for the second time as well as went to Moscow, Russian Federation. My second child was born in 2006. I was demobilized prematurely receiving my military ID and thus gaining the chance to continue my musical activity. Being in Russia and Georgia in 2007 I was already quite a famous and successful musician. In 2008 I got an offer to go on a concert tour to Bulgaria (with “Mush” dance ensemble) to present the Armenian culture at various culture festivals taking place in Bulgaria first, and then in August in different cities of Italy and Greece. In 2008 I had concerts in Paris where I had the honor to meet Charles Aznavour, the great chansonnier and our compatriot. He inspired me with warm words of appraisal thus motivating me to aspire for greater achievement and success as music director and instrumentalist. In 2008 we toured in Syria with the Armenian State Dance Troupe. The same year I received an offer to lead famous singer Silva Hakobyan’s concert band and play live with them. We had a very busy touring schedule first in Armenia and later in Syria. On October 31, 2010 we had the first great solo concert in Yerevan. I had made all the musical arrangement, and together with the band we played live at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex hall which seats 10 000 people. We then went on our world concert tour. In 2011 I founded AYRUMYAN Production, which is still working. In 2011 I had concerts at Pasadena Civic Hall in USA, as well as in Kuwait on March 23 and later in Syria with the Armenian State Dance Troupe. I soon received my second great cooperation offer from Martin Mkrtchyan, a famous and tremendously popular singer both in Armenia and overseas. I was to work as his music director and musical and concert producer. We had our first grand solo concert in 2011 at the Sports and Concerts Complex, after which in 2012 I was invited to work with Lilit Hovhannisyan, Martin Mkrtchyan and Mihran Tsarukyan as music director and instrumentalist at the concert which took place at Pasadena City College Hall, USA. In 2012 we had concerts in more than 10 cities in Russia. In 2012 I left for the US to attend Armenian Music Award as a special guest. Silva Hakobyan, whom I represented, was awarded Best Singer of the Year. In 2013 we began our concert tour across Europe: France (Strasbourg, Marseille, Lyon, Paris), Monaco, Vienna, Holland and Sweden. In 2014 we had a great solo concert at Pasadena Civic with Martin Mkrtchyan, and then continued the tour in Europe giving concerts in France (Strasbourg, Marseille, Toulouse, Lyon) and Holland. In 2015 together with the Armenian State Dance Troupe we toured in Spain, France (Marseille, Paris), Holland and Germany. In January 2016 Martin Mkrtchyan’s solo concert took place in Paris and at Dolby Hall in the USA. In 2016 I left for the US to take part in a project called “Anush Opera through Children’s Eyes”, where my children Karapet and Liana Ayrumyan had a number of concerts and were rewarded with Certificates of Gratitude issued by US Senator. In 2016 I went on a grand concert tour to Canada with Martin Mkrtchyan.
