Mike Taylor
Jazz pianist
Mike Taylor (1938-1969) was a British jazz pianist born in London and active in the 1960s. He was not widely recognised as an influential jazz figure during his lifetime but his work has since been critically acclaimed. He was better known for contributing to the work of Cream's Wheels of Fire album.
Essential jazz works to look out for include Trio (featuring drummer John Hiseman and, unusually, two bassists Ron Rubin and Jack Bruce) and Pendulum on which Dave Tomlin also plays soprano.
