She took the name "Galena" from the natural mineral form of lead sulfide with the same name. Galena became her career in 1997 when she was 15. She released her debut single "Love It" which peaked at number 74 in the Korean music charts. The single was sold in two versions: In 2000 she released her second single "Love Story" which was a radio single. It peaked at number 90 in the Korean radio charts. A third single "It Feels Good" was released lately in 2001.
