It was 1992 when Marcas started to take courses at the musical conservatory in Ostend, Belgium. He learned all about the basics in music and began to play the piano. As time passed, he got bored with classical music and driven by his obsession for electronic music, he wanted to try something new. At the age of 15, he formed the band ‘Marcas’ to bring a large variety of electronic music (from house to electro to drum ‘n bass). His interest in Drum’n Bass grew over the years and he decided to drop ‘Marcas’ and focus more on producing Drum’n Bass. Qbit was the result. After a year trying out stuff, Woodrow, label-owner of Drop On Request recordings, picked up ‘Eternal Loving’. One year later the release was a fact. In fact, Woodrow & Alex (the owners of DOR) became so sure of him that they decided to make him the lead artist of the label. Qbit isn’t a producer that puts his focus to one genre. That’s why he decided to pick the ‘Marcas’ project back up. Marcas stands for smooth, melodic but moving drum & bass. With Marcas, he brought out several releases on various labels. As time went by he felt DnB was too limited in its genre to really fit what he wanted to do, so he picked up the original Marcas project. In this project, there are no 'rules' as such. Music has to create a certain vibe, a mood. That's exactly what he's set out to do at this point...
