Gaitana Essami (Ukrainian: Гайтана Ессамі, born on March 24, 1979 in Kiev) is an Ukrainian soul and rnb singer-songwriter. Her music combines elements of jazz, funk, soul, and folk music. Gaitana was born in Kyiv, but subsequently moved to the Congo where her father was born, for five years. Afterwards, Gaitana moved back to Ukraine with her mother, but her father stayed in Brazzaville. Gaitana's singing career begins in 1991 with "Fant-loto Nadezhda" children's musical TV contest where she took third place. .
