Release Info
Perhaps what is most impressive about young pianist Lucas Debargue is that he is largely self-taught. He began by learning to play jazz, until he was put in touch with a Russian piano teacher in Paris when he was 17. This release is Debargues highly anticipated debut album. The 24-year-old plays works by Scarlatti, Chopin, Liszt, and Ravel. Debargue specializes in Russian music, partially due to his current instruction at the Ecole Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot in Paris with Professor Rena Shereshevskaya. Still a lover of jazz, Debargue performs with several jazz ensembles in and around Paris.
