For her debut recording on Aparte, acclaimed Swiss pianist Beatrice Berrut offers listeners an intimate vision of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Playing on a rare Bosendorfer prototype, Berrut has assembled a program comprised of transcriptions by Wilhelm Kempff, Alexander Siloti and Ferrucio Busoni, a selection of Chorales and three Etudes in Baroque style by the contemporary French composer Thierry Escaich. Together these works demonstrate both the timelessness and universality of Bach's music and the Baroque period's lasting effects on composers of today.
