Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble
Lincoln University has had a touring choir since the mid-1940s. Former members of the touring choir are located throughout the United States of America and in several foreign countries.
The Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble(LUVE) is an auditioned ensemble of mixed voices is comprised of both music majors and minors from thoughout the campus community. The forerunner of the LUVE consisted of five students within the University Choir who were interested performing a variety of vocal literature including gospel and jazz music. The name of the group became the Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble and was included in the music curriculum in 1978. The LUVE has become very popular on and off campus.
LUVE is under the direction of Ms. Michelle Gamblin-Green. Past performances have been at the African-American Symposium, Brown Foundation and with the recording artist Nelly. They have also performed traveled at Carnegie Hall, the University of Missouri-Singers "Tribute to Black Colleges and Universities Program," in Wichita, Kansas, "NAACP Legislative on the Hill Day," Kentucky State University, Tuskegee University, and many other requested performances.
Each spring the Lincoln University Vocal Ensemble tours the midwest and thoughout the United States for a recruitment and other singing engagements.
