Aktual

Czech experimental voiceband active in years 1967-1972 formed around all-round artist Milan Knížák. Musical concepts of Aktual resembled genres like industrial or noise years before they were even reckoned as a musical phenomenon. The core of Aktual's instruments were guitar, bass and drums but the equal part of their shows were noise-making objects like sirens, rails, buckets full of shattered glass, splitting of wood and even motorcycle or drilling machine - the stage after concert wasn't the same as before. Aktual was the first underground Czech band using native language in texts. The lyrics were plain, simple slogans about forbidden themes like sex, drugs and often mocked the Communist party, usually by witty ironizing of their own slogans. No records were made during the lifetime of the band but Knížák has managed to ressurect the band in 2003 with different members and put out the albums Děti bolševizmu and Atentát na Kulturu.
