Datevik Hovanesian
Datevik has been called "The Lady of Jazz in the Soviet Union". Having performed at some of the most prestigious international jazz festivals, she has shared the stage with such musical giants as Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles, Betty Carter, and Carmen Mcrae. Critics have been astounded by her sensitive approach. Worldwide audiences have been mesmerized by her compassionate precision and her touch of authenticity in performing works by Ellington, Gershwin, Parker, Jobim, and others. In "Listen To My Heart", produced by legendary producer George Avakian, Datevik brings works by Komitas, Sayat Nova, Altunian, and Armenian folk music to very unusual setting. Teamed up with great musicians (Armen Donelian, Arto Tunchboyaciyan, David Fink, and others), Datevik fuses traditional Armenian music with jazz, creating new phenomena.
