IQ

There are multiple artists with the name IQ: 1) A British progressive rock band 2) A hard house act. 3) An Australian synth band 4) A US female group 5) A Serbian band. 6) A Russian underground rapper. 1) Born in the UK in the '70s as The Lens, IQ remained, with Marillion, one of the very few progressive rock artists in the '80s. The style of their earlier material drew constant comparisons to that of groups like Genesis, but the band has always rejected the 'neo-progressive' tag bestowed upon them. Their 1993 offering Ever was marked by the return of original singer, Peter Nicholls, and was one of the first of the progressive revival of the '90s. He had previously quit the band in 1985 to be replaced by vocalist Paul (P.L.) Menel, but Nicholls' return was widely welcomed by IQ fans. They have continued to tour and record but work on a new studio album had been delayed following the departure of keyboardist and founder member Martin Orford after 26 years in the band, however the new album Frequency was released in 2009 and marked a return to the early 80's IQ sound. 2) IQ is a hard house act on the Nukleuz label. 3) Based in Sydney Australia, IQ was a synth based band driven by Ken Davis in the early-mid 1980's. The style was a mixture of new age and contemporary electronica. Ken played with artists such as Mars Lasar and Dale Nougher. Their music was typically sold at outdoor concerts on cassette. 4) IQ is an American teenage pop and hip hop girl group, originally formed for a school talent show. The group consists of sisters Sadiea and Nyla Williams, Gicelle Valerio and Lauren Mafera, all from Lunenburg, Massachusetts. They have released an EP (It's Like That) and two albums - Roll Call (2006) and Crush (2008). 5) IQ is newly founded band based in Belgrade, Serbia. Band members are Aleksandar Sedlar Bogojev (plays most of the instruments, lead singer and guitar player) and Nikola Demonja (plays saxs) among others. Aleksandar Sedlar was member of another Belgrade based band Strip. He toured (guitar, back-vocals) and collaborated with Aleksandra Kovac, Zdravko Colic, Aleksandra Radovic, Vasilisa, Sergej Cetkovic, Mari Mari, Ogi Radivojevic... Aleksandar finished classical composing on National Academy of music in Belgrade and he is also finishing his studies of conducting. Besides being involved in making of classical and pop music he is also composing for film. Band will introduce their first song as a group on up-coming national selection for Eurovision called Beovizija. Later this year their debut album will be released.
