Mamou Sidibé

Sidibe is a singer and composer originally from the Ganadougou region of southern Mali. She began her career in Bamako, the capital of Mali, in the 1980s as a member of Oumou Sangare's group. Toward the end of the '90s, she left Sangaré's group to begin a solo career; she teamed with Yves Wernert and Philippe Berthier (also known for their work with Issa Bagayogo) to record her first album, Nakan ("Destiny"), in 1999.
