Gunjan

'Gunjan' means 'Musical Echo', so it was no surprise that at the very young age of three, Gunjan's nursery school teachers and others who heard her sing, told her mother that Gunjan was destined for a career in music and that she would dedicate her life to her vocal talent and exceptional ability to sing. At the age of four, she made her debut stage performance for her Kindergarten School. After that there was no stopping her passion to sing, so she went on to record Children’s Nursery Rhymes, Religious Songs, and Radio and TV Commercials all over Asia. As the biggest child star in India, Gunjan's popularity continued to soar and she received the prestigious All India (National) Award for best Vocalist for three years in a row. Gunjan spent years nurturing and perfecting her talent, while under training from some of the most famous musical directors and composers in India. As a teenager, she shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Indian Music Industry, such as Lakshmikant Pyarelal, Ravindra Jain, Anuradha Paudwal, Sonu Nigam and Subha Mudgal. Gunjan impressed all and stood out to many, as she had the ability not only to sing in all South Asian languages and dialects, but in just about every foreign language as well. Gunjan settled in United States in her late teens and continued her Indian Classical Music Training under the tutelage of the legendary Ustaad Ali Akbar Khan in California. She soon moved to North Carolina so she could pursue her commitment to musical perfection, where she obtained a University degree in “Western Classical Music”, with Special Interest in Indian Classical. Straight out of college, Gunjan was signed by internationally acclaimed producer/remixer, Bally Sagoo, to his brand new record label, Ishq Records, in England. Her talent was obvious to Bally and she went on to sing on numerous albums, most of which went Platinum within 6 weeks and Triple Platinum within 12 months. Gunjan immediately became an overnight success, with the younger and the older generation, both of who were in awe of her captivating vocals. Gunjan has even touched the hearts of millions through the big screen, as she was the most featured artist on the sound track of one of the most successful films of 2002, the British Asian independent blockbuster hit, Bend It Like Beckham. After 5 years with Bally Sagoo and team, Gunjan decided to part ways and pursue different avenues, so she could continue to grow musically. She's been busy in the studio ever since, writing and recording original material for the first time. Gunjan has an enormous desire to explore all different genres of music, leading her to collaborate with world-renowned artists from Morgan Heritage to Apache Indian to Eminem's rapper Stat Quo to Elephant Man to chart topping producers Handel Tucker (Maxi Priest, Bennie Man, Backstreet Boys, etc) and Rishi Rich (Britney Spears, Craig David, Misteeq, etc). Gunjan continues to tour the world, collaborate with new artists and producers across the globe, and is currently writing and recording new material in the studio every week.
